     Joseph Jared was born on 2 January 1760 in Loudoun County, Virginia.2 He was the son of John Jared and Hannah Whitacre.1 He married first Agnes "Aggie" Beard on 23 October 1780 in Bedford County, Virginia.1 He married second Elizabeth "Betsy" Baker on 19 January 1802.1 He died on 4 March 1835 in Jackson County, Tennessee, at age 75.1

Joseph Jared enlisted at Lacey's Tavern on Bulskin Creek, Loudoun County, Virginia, on 12 October 1779 and served more than six months in the Revolutionary War.3
