     Joseph Bolles was baptized on 19 February 1608 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.2,3 He was the son of Thomas Bolles Esq. and Elizabeth Perkins.2 He married Mary Howell.2 He died testate in 1678 in Wells, Maine.3
     
     Joseph Bolles apprenticed in Kingston-upon-Hull, Yorkshire, England.3 He immigrated to New England about 1640 and first settled at Winter Harbor, Biddeford Pool, York County, Maine, where he was a court witness in 1640.2,3 He moved to Wells where on 4 July 1653 he was made Freeman by swearing allegiance to the Massachusetts government.4 He served as clerk of the writs and as councilor.3

     Joseph Bolles made a will on 18 September 1678 in Wells, York County, Maine, in which he named his wife as sole executrix and lifetime heir, and made bequests to his children Thomas, Samuel, Mary, Hannah, Elizabeth, Mercy, Joseph and Sarah.5 Click to view image
